Chasing the Magic FUNd Run Suggested Routes and Race Bibs

10/22/2020 8:51 am

A huge thank you to all the families that have helped raise funds and log miles for the Chasing the Magic FUNd Run.  We truly appreciate your help making this fundraiser a success!

As a reminder, this is a virtual run so your family can complete miles any time, anywhere, and any way that you want.  Students are able to log miles completed right on their individual FUNd Run pages.

There will be a Finish Line setup at Glade Landing Park between 9 AM and 12 PM on Saturday, October 24th.  You can stop by, take a picture with the finish line, collect any earned prizes not yet received, and celebrate your hard work!  Be sure to use the hashtag #GESmagic as you post pictures to Social Media.  There will be a drawing for a spirit shirt Sunday, October 25th and anyone who has used that hashtag will be entered to win.

If you haven't yet completed your miles and want to follow a route that ends at Glade Landing Park where we will have the finish line set up, we have created a couple of routes you can complete with your family and a RACING BIB YOU CAN PRINT OFF HERE.  We'd like to thank Katie Cummings for putting these together for us! Here are the suggested routes:

1) The Double Loop Route:

From Glade Landing Park, head south on Brettenmeadow Drive. Curve with the road when it heads east until it dead ends into Altacrest Ct. Make a right and head south on Altacrest Ct. Turn right onto Altacrest Drive and go west all the way, across Baze, past the park, and make a right onto Heatherdale Drive. Go north on Heatherdale Drive all the way to Branch Hollow Lane where you will make a right and go back east. When Branch Hollow Lane ends, make a right onto Shadow Glen Ln. Head south until Haydenbend Circle where you will make a left and cross over Baze back towards Glade Landing Park. Make a right onto Brettenmeadow Drive and then repeat the loop one more time to make the 5K route.

2) The Park Route:
From Glade Landing Park, head north on Brettenmmeadow Drive . Make a left on Haydenbend Circle. When you reach Baze, make a right and follow Baze/Hall Johnson north until the trailhead after Wonder Way. Make a right onto the trail and go north past Hazy Meadow Park. Follow the trail into Bear Creek Park. Follow the trail to the left over the two bridges towards the baseball fields. After the second bridge, make a left towards Bear Creek Playground. At the bathrooms, make another left over the bridge and follow the trail past the second baseball field. Follow the trail along 360. Turn around before crossing the 121 service road. Return the way you came. To add the little extra to make it a 5K, when you come to the fork in the trail right by the big dog park (after going over the two bridges), make a left and then a right to return into the neighborhood at Bear Run Drive. Follow Bear Run Drive south until you hit Sabel Ridge Ln. Head east Sabel Ridge Ln. and then south (right) onto Windswept Ln. Follow Windswept Ln. all the way south to Hughes Rd. Make a right and head west on Hughes Rd. until you hit Baze. Make a right (south) at the stop sign and follow Baze down to Haydenbend Circle where you will make a left and return to Glade Landing Park.
