Carnival FAQ 

 

Where on the GES Campus is Carnival?

 

This year all Carnival booths will be outside all around GES. We are so excited that both of our new playgrounds will be open for families to enjoy!  The foyer will be open for bathroom use, but all Carnival food and activities will be outside. 

 

What is a Star Card?

 

GES PTA sells Star Cards for Carnival.  Every booth and concession stand item costs between 3 and 10 stars.  Please note In-N-Out and Hip Pop do not accept Star Cards. For In-N-Out you need to pre-order a cookout ticket.  Hip Pop will be accepting cash or credit card at Carnival. 

 

Do I have to pre-order Star Cards and tickets? 

 

We will have Star Cards for purchase the day of the event, but we have to provide a meal count to In-N-Out for the Cookout so those tickets need to be purchased in advance. Pre-sale is happening now through Friday, October 29th here. 

 

Do I need cash or credit card at Carnival? 

 

GES PTA will be accepting cash, check, and credit card at our Star Card purchase table.  Hip Hop will be accepting cash and credit card for their frozen treats.  In-N-Out does not accept cash or credit card.  You must have an In-N-Out meal ticket to eat at the Cookout. All Carnival booths including our concession stand accept Star Cards. 

 

What will be at the Concession Stand?

 

Water, sodas, cotton candy, popcorn, candy, and chips. 

 

Will there be parking at GES? 

 

Please note parking will be more limited this year since all Carnival booths are outside.  We encourage walking, carpooling, or parking at Fellowship of the Parks Church and walking.  Thank you to Pastor Thornton and Fellowship of the Parks for letting us use their parking lot. 

 

Do I need to sign a waiver for the Ninja course?  

 

Yes. Save time by completing your participation waivers beforehand.  For parents that complete the Ninja Nation waiver online before November 1st, wristbands will be sent home to wear on the day of the carnival. Each person wearing the Ninja Nation wristband on the day of the carnival can skip the waiver line. Here is the waiver link for parents to complete.

Forget to sign someone up early? Not to worry, scan the QR code at the booth or use one of their ipads to complete the waiver. 

 

Can I volunteer at Carnival? 

 

Absolutely and we would be so grateful if you would! Sign up here. We will have a Volunteer Check-in table at Carnival.  If you are signed up to work a Carnival Booth, please check in at the table five minutes before the start of your shift. 

 

Can I still be a Carnival Sponsor?

Will there be an Auction at Carnival this year? 

 

GES PTA is hosting an online Auction from October 27th at 8 am until November 7th at 2 pm.  Participate in the auction here. There are lots of amazing items up for bid such as Principal for the Day, an overnight stay at The Vin, a basket from the Grapevine Rec including a family membership, a Jam Session with Ms. Lambert, and so much more! We appreciate your support of our auction. 

 

Does Carnival need sodas and cakes again this year? 

 

Yes.  We are asking for the donation of 2 liter soda bottles for the Ring Toss Game, new or gently used children's books appropriate for children in PK - 5th grade that will be used as game prizes in support of our campus literacy theme this year, and store bought baked goods for our cake walk. Sodas and books can be dropped off in the foyer November 1 - November 5.  We will be having a grade level competition for donating sodas and books.  The grade that brings in the most items will get a pajama day (please note since each grade has a different number of students we will be determining the winner using percentages not total number of items). Baked goods can be dropped off November 4 - 6 to volunteers at drop off or to a cart in the secure vestibule. These items can also be brought to GES on Carnival Day, November 6th, between 10 AM and 1PM.  

 

Are there prizes for games?

 

Yes! We will be giving out small prizes at some of our Carnival Booths.  There will not be tickets for games or a prize redemption booth this year. 

 

Can middle school and high school students get volunteer hours for helping at Carnival? 

 

Yes! PTA officers will be on hand to sign off on volunteer hours.  Middle and high school students can sign up to volunteer here.
